The first thing to try is to replace the battery.
Failing batteries can give unusual symptoms.
-Start with a known good battery and then check if there are any other problems

+Alternatively measure the voltage of the battery and check what it is as opposed to what is should be as stated on the battery itself. (do this out of circuit)
