When the jumping and freezing occurs, does it sound mechanical?  If so, the drive or more likely the laser is going bad.  If not, a firmware update could do the trick.  Im not sure what firmware you are on, but there is a new one available as of 2/22/18.  I would link it here, but Im not sure if that is allowed.  Google your model number with the word firmware and it should be one of the first few results.
