So I've had this problem for about a year of the Kinect turning on and then off by itself. I looked on YouTube and found some videos where people took it apart and checked the thermal fuse in side so I decided to follow suit… the fuse was intact as I figured since it was still coming on at times. On one video somebody said to cut two of the wires on the 4-wire fan that cools the unit that way the fan would run continuously. I will admit I was hesitant to do this because it just feels weird cutting wires but to my surprise this worked! I have not had an issue for 3 days straight now…. The connect unit also feels much cooler to the touch now… if you decide to do this make sure you only cut the blue and yellow wire to the fan and make sure to leave the black and red wire intact
