Hi @josephlittleton,
When you click on OFF does the check mark next to the word OFF disappear?
-If so, the word may not change to ON, it just means that the function is no longer OFF i.e. it is On and it probably means that the date and time will be superimposed on the image.

Does the Date icon come on if the check mark is not present when you try taking images etc?
Here’s an image of what I mean. Check mark is highlighted in red box
