Thick black bar in middle and on right side of screen

Someone accidentally pulled the cord of an old Element tv and it fell onto carpeting (not the super soft kind). The screen and everything else looks okay from the outside, but there are now two black bars on the screen when it is turned on. The tv still functions fine, but there is just something up with the display. Does anyone have any quick fixes or is this something I should just throw out?
