To remove the battery move the battery hold latch to the right and tilt the battery out. See attached pic :-) be careful when you pry with anything, so as in not to break the housing etc. To check the eligibility for the battery recall check on this [http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c01722254|website] it will give you the proper procedure and numbers.
