Can an expanding battery cause the trackpad to slightly pop up?

I recently noticed that my trackpad/touchpad has slightly popped up on the left side. I am not able to click on the bottom right of the touchpad(I usually just soft tap, but not able to click is a serious concern for me). Is it the case that this might be related to an expanding battery? This popping up is not very apparent sometimes(Usually at cooler laptop temperatures). Should I give it some time, or should I be worried?
