Hi,
Some things to check:
Has using the microphone via the front panel connection ever worked OK?
If not, do you know what the PC case, front panel audio module type is?
It could be either a HD audio or an AC’97 type module. The reason I ask is that they are connected differently to the motherboard and the settings are set to HD audio by default.
See p.26 of the [https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-970a-d3p_e.pdf|motherboard user manual] for how the audio panel is actually connected to the motherboard connector and on p.71 how to configure the audio for the 2 different audio types available.
If you have an AC’97 audio module then on p.72 Sect. C it details how to activate the AC’97 front panel audio.
-On p.74 is shows how to set the microphone settings which may also be of some help.
+From p.74 onwards it shows how to set the microphone settings which may also be of some help.
