I don’t know what I did that caused it to come on because I tried several of the suggestions here…like pressing the on and sound at the same time and reset.. but when it came on I think I was pressing the reset and on at the same time.  I was about to throw it away before I found these postings.  Now I have to put the little screws back in it as I had torn it apart to see if something was loose or broken
