Title:

Replacement iPad 5 Home Button doesn't fit replacement screen properly

Text:

In the process of replacing the screen of my iPad 5, I tore the home button cable. Ordered both the screen and button from iFixit, yet the button does not seem to sit properly in the screen, as if the hole is too small. Is it expected to fit in the hole or “float” on the backside?
I also ordered a replacement home button bracket, but it slightly differs from the original as there isn’t a little metal “button” on the inside that appears to be pressed against the center actuator of the button.

+=== Update (01/07/2022) ===
+It appears to be the glass as the original home button won’t fit into the glass either but the new home button WILL fit into the original glass. I am going to assume that I need an RMA, but will wait to see if anyone else chimes in or has any recommendations.
