Hi,

Will the laptop turn on with the charger connected?

Does it show that the battery in the laptop is charging when the charger is connected.

It it doesn't indicate that the battery is charging, when the charger is connected to the laptop, it may be a faulty charger or a faulty DC-In jack (example only to show part).

First check that the charger's output is 19.5V DC at the plug. If you haven't got a voltmeter, try connecting a known working, compatible charger to the laptop to see if it charges the battery. If it does allow it to fully charge the battery before attempting to turn the laptop on.

If the charger tests OK (or a compatible charger doesn't charge the battery either) open the laptop and check if the voltage from the charger appears at the motherboard connector, where the cable from the DC-In jack connects.

If there is no voltage there then the problem is in the jack and it will have to be replaced. Here's the maintenance and service guide for the laptop model series that may help. Go to p.51 to view the procedure to remove the power cable. Initially you won't have to remove it, just gain access so that you can test.

If it is determined that the jack is faulty search online for L56904-001 to find suppliers that suit you best.

If it indicates that the battery is charging when the charger is connected, but the laptop still won't turn on and since you've tried a power refresh there's a motherboard problem which will have to be further investigated.
