Why won't my screen show on the monitor?

I was given an Xbox Series X because it didn't work and the family got a new one. I have tried all the trouble shooting I could find. The HDMI cord works fine for other devices, same with the monitor. The XBox turns on and off fine, but the screen just is black. My monitor seems to recognize that something is plugged into it.

According to the family, it worked until there was a power surge, and now it's stopped working. A couple times while troubleshooting, I got the logo to blink instead of turning on normally, but I wasn't sure what this meant or what to do with it. I managed this by holding the pair button while I pressed the on button. Why won't it work, and how can I fix it?

@goofball9815 let's see if @dan0 our game console guru has any ideas about this one. Sounds like a pretty tricky repair and I keep thinking HDMI IC

Hi Sam!

This could be caused by multiple things.

The most likely one is the Semiconductor NB7NQ621M (HDMI IC) as the Xbox turns on and off just fine as how it should be.

Also check this one out > Monolithic Power Systems MP2926 IC.

You can find them here: Xbox Series X Teardown (step 11).

Replacing those IC's are difficult. It requires soldering plus soldering skills.

With the guide you can determine if you want to do the repair by yourself or let a local repair shop do it for you.

Hopefully you will get it fixed again! Good luck with the repair!

Thanks for the advice. I took it in because I know I can't do the repairs you suggested. Turns out the only problem is that the HDMI port is chipped a little! Thank you for your answer.
