Wii U won't read SD cards anymore, can it be fixed?

SO I tried to homebrew my Wii U so that I could play an american copy of a game I have had on my shelf for a while now, but when trying to homebrew the console I saw that i couldn't get it to read any SD cards (couldn't see it on the Wii U, and it wouldn't create a Wii U older on the SD card after putting it inside the console). I pressume that if's just dead and I can't do anything about it, but I thought that maybe someone else over here had an idea / suggestion. Thanks for reading thus far!

Hi Tim!

I can’t help you with modding your Wii U.. but I can help you regarding the SD card reader.

First things first, try to clean the SD card reader slot with isopropyl alcohol as good as you can.

If it still does not ready any SD card, you need to open up the console and check if any pins are bent inside the SD card reader slot, also check for dirt in there! If there is dirt in there, then please try to clean it again.

Last resort is to replace the reader… unfortunately it’s soldered on the motherboard… so, replacing it requires soldering plus soldering skills. If you don’t have any experience with it, then you can bring it to a local repair shop and ask them to fix it for you.

Good luck with the repair, and please let us know how it goes!
