Background and Identification

The Drager Julian is an anesthesia workstation that provides electronic delivery of inhalation anesthetics, ventilation, monitoring of blood pressure/gases, respiration, and monitoring of equipment function. It was first introduced by Drager in 1996. Users of this device are primarily bio-medical technicians.

This device can be found for sale at $422 - $7,000 on multiple medical supplies websites. It is not being sold on Drager’s website. In 1990, on October 20th, this device was recalled in Canada due to a Class II Risk. This was concerning a valve which selected oxygen or air that would stop in the middle position, causing contamination of the air/oxygen lines.

The Julian can be identified by the unique “Julian” text in the top right corner of the machine. This machine is primarily a white/grey color with a blue top, bottom, and shelf. The Julian’s screen is located to the top right of the machine. This workstation is also on wheels.
