Background and Identification

The Apple Wireless Keyboard was released in 2003 by Apple Inc. for Macintosh computers and compatible with devices on the iOS system.

It operates using Bluetooth technology to connect and has no USB connectors or ports. The keys are a laser etched chiclet keyboard. All generations have a low-power mode when not in use.

The Apple Wireless Keyboard was discontinued in October 2015. Its successor was the [[Topic:Magic Keyboard|Apple Magic Keyboard]] It was released the same year as the Wireless Keyboard was discontinued and it is the current keyboard that is sold/used.

There were four generations of Apple Wireless Keyboard including:

CNET wrote about the 2007 version or second generation keyboard in 2010. With this version, Apple got rid of the numeric keypad and gave it a thinner profile. It is smaller and thinner than the previous full-size model. This version only requires two batteries to power it while the last version required three. It also saw improvements on power conservation and features an auto on and off which prolongs battery life. They also mention that the cons of this model were it lacks a number pad and the keys are small which might make it cramped for some users.
