The Canon PowerShot SD550 is an excellent pocket-sized point and shoot camera. It was released in August 2005 as an improvement on the PowerShot SD500. Changes included a slight redesign of the camera body, more user-friendly human interfaces, and an increase in screen size. Electronic improvements included more camera modes, better battery management, and quieter operation.
In order to identify a PowerShot SD550, look at either the top or front faces of the camera. In both locations, "PowerShot SD550 Digital Elph" should be clearly printed. Other unique features of the SD550 include a 7.1 megapixel sensor, a 2.5 inch LCD screen, 3x optical zoom, and 4x digital zoom (12x total).
