Paragraph
The Dodge Charger is a line of automobiles produced by Dodge, an American automaker. Dodge has sold several production variants of the Charger that were built on three different platforms and sizes. The Charger nameplate has been used on muscle cars, personal luxury coupes, subcompact hatchbacks, and full-size sedans. The Dodge Charger was produced between 1966 and 1978, 1981 through 1987, and 2005 to the present.
The Charger was introduced as a show car in 1964, but the first Dodge Charger in the Charger line debuted in 1966. The 1966 Charger took its name and some styling from the concept cars before it, with a swept fastback roofline and four bucket seats. Three main iterations of the Dodge Charger have been produced, including a mid-size (B-body) two-door car between 1966 and 1978, a subcompact (L-body) car between 1983 and 1987, and a full-size (LX) platform four-door sedans manufactured since 2006. A 1999 concept car also carried the Charger name, even though it was substantially different from the Chargers of the time. That concept car was used for the production of the Charger for the 2006 model year. In Brazil, the Charger name was used as a performance model based on the 1971-1980 Dodge Dart.
Dodge Charger cars have included the Dodge emblem, which features the name “Dodge” in capital letters placed above or below an illustration of a ram’s head with large horns. Charger vehicles typically include the name “Charger” in either capital letters or cursive font on the side or rear of the car.
