Background and Identification

The Dyson DC33 is an upright bagless vacuum cleaner also known by the Costco-specific model CM5. The DC33 is designed to work on both bare floors (tile, vinyl, and wood) and carpets. Dyson advertises that the DC33 can capture microscopic particles down to 0.5 microns in size. It includes a washable HEPA filter that captures allergens such as pollen, mold spores, and dust mites. The DC33 Multi Floor is certified asthma and allergy friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

Dyson recommends regularly rinsing the vacuum’s filter under cold tap water until the water runs clear and then allowing the filter to fully dry for at least 12 hours. To maintain suction, Dyson recommends emptying the vacuum’s bin as soon as debris reaches the MAX marker. Dyson does not recommend picking up water or other liquids with the DC33 vacuum. The DC33 includes a combination accessory tool and a stair tool that can be stored on the machine.

The Dyson DC33 includes a 14.4-foot telescoping wand, and accessories can be fitted and removed on the click-fit wand. It has a mostly silver body with a transparent dust and debris collection bin that users can see into so they do not overfill the bin. The top of the canister includes several cylinders with blue or yellow tops (part of Dyson’s Root Cyclone Technology).
