The Nokia 8290 is a small, lightweight mobile phone introduced to the North American market in 1999. The 8290 operates on a GSM-1900MHz (2G) network. The phone is a variant of the 8210 which was designed for the Asian market. The Nokia 8290 is distinguished from its variants (specifically the 8260) by its voice dialing feature and interchangeable faceplates, as well as being slightly lighter at only 2.8 ounces.
The phone is no longer in production, but various vendors continue to carry accessories and spare parts.
The model number (8290) is found on the manufacturer label underneath the [guide|11313|removable battery|stepid=41090|new_window=true].
