Paragraph
The Pontiac G6 is a mid-size car produced by General Motors under the Pontiac brand name. It replaced the Grand Am during its introduction in 2004 for the 2005 model year. The Pontiac G6 name originated from the car’s succession to the Pontiac Grand Am. The G6 serves as the sixth generation of the Grand Am. When the Pontiac line was discontinued in 2010, production of the Pontiac G6 also ceased.
The G6 featured a remote starting system (standard on the GT model but optional on the base model), traction control/ABS, automatic headlights, panoramic sunroof, and electronic stability control. The Pontiac G6 was sold in two-door convertible, two-door coupe, and four-door sedan body styles. It was built with a transverse front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout. Buyers could choose a range of gasoline inline-four or V6 engines paired to a four-speed automatic, six-speed automatic, or six-speed manual transmission.
Pontiac vehicles can be identified by the Pontiac emblem, which is a shield shape that resembles a downward-pointing arrowhead with a four-pointed star in the center. The first logo of the Pontiac brand depicted the Native American warrior, Chief Pontiac, wearing a Native American headdress. Pontiac incorporated the same shape as the Oakland emblem after Pontiac absorbed the Oakland line in the early 1930s.
