RCA, which stands for the Radio Corporation of America, was a prominent electronics corporation in the United States for several decades, from the 1920s to the 1980s. After the corporation was acquired by General Electric in 1986, RCA became a brand name only, owned by Sony and Technicolor and licensed to other companies for certain products. This page contains information about tablets made with the RCA brand name.
Tablets are a form of mobile computer. They normally just consist of a screen, but are usually compatible with a detachable keyboard. While more portable than a laptop computer, the tablet does not have the same capabilities. They often have less processing power, and do not support access to a cellular network. Tablets were extremely popular in the 2010s, although their popularity has decreased with the rise of smartphones. Despite this, tablets are used by many people and are sometimes preferred for things like online reading, where their larger screens make them easier to use and less eye-straining. RCA tablets use the Android operating system (OS). Tablets with this OS tablets have access to the Google Play Store and usually come with pre-installed Google apps such as Gmail, Google Chrome, Google Maps, YouTube, and several others.
