Apple's "vanilla" iPhone 15 was announced on September 12th, 2023, and released the week after on September 22nd. It features a 6.1" OLED, inherits the Dynamic Island and the A16 Bionic SoC from 2022's [[Topic:iPhone 14 Pro|iPhone 14 Pro|new_window=true]] and [[Topic:iPhone 14 Pro Max|14 Pro Max|new_window=true]], and features an improved dual-camera system with a 48 MP Main camera and a 12 MP Ultra Wide camera.
Notably, the iPhone 15, [[Topic:iPhone 15 Plus|15 Plus|new_window=true]], [[Topic:iPhone 15 Pro|15 Pro|new_window=true]], and [[Topic:iPhone 15 Pro Max|15 Pro Max|new_window=true]] are the first iPhones to ship with USB-C—marking only the second time Apple has switched ports on its iPhones, the first being the [[Topic:iPhone 5|iPhone 5|new_window=true]]'s switch to Lightning from the 30-pin connector in 2012. However, the non-Pro 15 and 15 Plus models only support USB 2 speeds—the same as outgoing Lightning.
The iPhone 15 is priced at $799 for a 128 GB model, available in one of five colors: Black, Blue, Green, Yellow, or Pink.
You can identify the iPhone 15 by the one of the following model numbers printed on the inside back of the USB-C (charge) port. Flip the iPhone over (with the screen facing away from you) to see it.

You can also find the model number through the phone's UI by going to the Settings app and navigating to General > About. Tap on the number listed in the Model Number section and it should change to a format that looks like the numbers above.
Additionally, Apple offers a quick online tool to help identify your devices: Identify your iPhone model.
The iPhone 15 features a 6.1-inch (diagonal) flat glass screen, thin black bezels, a pill-shaped, black "dynamic island" at the top of the screen, matte back glass, and colored aluminum side rails.
Volume controls and the ring/silent switch can be found on the left edge while the power button is situated on the right. A square camera "bump" containing two cameras protrudes from the back case. This model has no home button.
The iPhone 15 can be differentiated from the iPhone 15 Pro by its colorful aluminum design and dual-camera array (relative to the more muted metal finishes and triple-camera array of the Pro, respectively).
The iPhone 15 can be differentiated from the previous generation [[Topic:iPhone 14|iPhone 14|new_window=true]] by its USB-C charging port and Dynamic Island.
