The iPhone X (as well as the 8 and 8 Plus) was formally announced by Apple on September 12, 2017. New features include a new, almost bezel-less display (replaced with a notch-like cutout for the earpiece speaker and front sensors), a new hexa-core system-on-chip with improved system and graphics performance, a glass back, and wireless charging using the Qi Standard. Additional features include a True Tone display and upgraded cameras.
The most often replaced iPhone X parts include the battery, screen, antennas and lightning connector assembly.
You can identify the iPhone X by finding one of the model numbers either on the inner edge of the SIM card tray or within the phone's Settings app:
A1865
A1901
A1902
You can find the model number through the phone's UI by going to the Settings app and navigating to General > About. Tap on the number listed in the Model Number section and it should change to a format that looks like the numbers above.
The iPhone X features a 5.8-inch (diagonal) glass screen with curved edges, thinner black bezels (compared to previous models), and a notch at the top of the screen to accommodate a speaker and selfie camera. The back cover is glass and the edge frame is made from curved stainless steel.
Volume controls can be found on the left edge while the power button and SIM card tray are situated on the right. A vertically oriented double camera "bump" protrudes slightly from the back case. This model has no home button.
The iPhone X can be differentiated from the iPhone XS by looking at the speaker holes on either side of the charging port on the bottom edge of the phone. The iPhone X has 6 speaker holes on either side of the charging port (12 total) while the iPhone XS has 3 to the right and 6 to the left of the charging port (9 total).
