Background and Identification
The HP OMEN (model number 15-ax280nd) is a personal computer “notebook” released by Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 2016. The first OMEN laptop was released in 2015 and was marketed toward occasional gamers. The laptop has a 15.6-inch display (measured diagonally).
The 2016 OMEN model has a Skylake processor rather than the 2015’s Haswell processor. It comes with a matte in-plane switching (IPS) display that has a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. The 15-ax280nd model also includes 16 GB of DDR4 RAM by using two separate 8 GB RAM slots. It features 128 GB of internal storage and a 2-terabyte hard disk drive. The most common variant includes a Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system, though less expensive variants of the laptop (such as the 15-ax005ng) have less powerful graphics processing units, less RAM, and smaller hard drives.
The OMEN model 15-ax280nd includes one HDMI port, one headphone/microphone combination port, one USB 2.0 port, two UDB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, and 1 RJ-45 port (RJ-45 ports are Ethernet-style data ports commonly used for Ethernet, series, and ATM IMA cards). The laptop has a black body and a keyboard with red backlight. The Hewlett-Packard logo is placed in the center of the bottom chassis of the laptop’s display. It also includes a red VoodooPC tribal mask logo on the back of the laptop.
