Background and Identification

Hematology is the study of blood and the organs of the body that form blood. Hematologists identify and treat blood diseases and disorders, including anemias, blooding disorders, sickle cell disease, and blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma.

Hematology laboratory equipment is used to conduct analysis of biopsied bone marrow and blood samples to determine white and red blood cell counts, platelet counts, and hemoglobin concentration.
