Bravia stands for “Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture”. Since 2005, all Sony high definition LCD televisions have carried the Bravia brand in North America. Prior to this, Sony carried the WEGA brand on their LCD televisions. |

A liquid-crystal display uses light-modulating properties of liquid crystals in combination with polarizers to produce images. In contrast, LED (light-emitting diode) displays consist of semiconductor light sources that emit light when exposed to current. The components for Sony Bravia LCD TVs depend on the model but in general, the LCD panels are made by Sony Corporation. Since 2010, for mid-range and budget models, the 8th generation SPVA panel was used but for the high end televisions like those in the LX, NX and HX series the 10th generation Sony Bravia ASV panel was used. |
