Lenovo ThinkPad P14S Gen 1 Repair

The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Gen 1, released in late 2020, is a lightweight mobile workstation aimed at engineers, designers, and professionals running demanding applications. It is part of Lenovo’s ThinkPad P series, known for its ISV-certified performance, ensuring compatibility with industry-standard software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Adobe Creative Suite.

The P14s Gen 1 comes in both the AMD and Intel variant. The AMD variant features the AMD Ryzen 7th Gen processor, while the Intel variant can feature up to the Intel 10th Gen processor. The ram can also be upgraded up to 48GB DDR4 RAM (one soldered, one upgradeable slot), as well as a storage of up to 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The P14s Gen 1 also features the ThinkShield security features, including a fingerprint reader and TPM 2.0, plus the MIL-STD-810G durability certification for rugged use. The display is 14-inches, with options such as the FHD IPS, or 4K UHD with Dolby Vision HDR. The price of this device currently ranges from $350-700, making it relatively cheap as newer generations of the ThinkPad P series have been released.

The ThinkPad P14s Gen 1 is a part of the ThinkPad series, which was initially released in 1992 by IBM, and later acquired by Lenovo in 2005. The ThinkPad series has evolved with each generation, bringing fundamental changes to its performance, design, and efficiency. The P14s Gen 1 is one of the first of its kind, offering consumers a lightweight mobile work station mainly used for professional work. It has been succeeded by the P14s Gen 2, which was released in 2021, featuring better processors, graphics, build quality, battery, and display.

This laptop is no longer available on the Lenovo website as they have since released newer models in the P14s lineup. While it does have replacement parts available, if you are looking to buy a laptop, we would recommend a newer version as it is hard to find readily available information on this laptop.

The P14s Gen 1 can be identified by its black case colour, which is the only available option. You can also identify this model by looking for the ThinkPad logo written in white on the bottom right of the laptop when opened, as well as by looking for the make and model number which is printed at the bottom of the case in a white label.
