Ask a Question

This is the original version, released around 2013.

Connectivity is via an audio jack lead, a 3.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack was supplied with each Minirig. This would allow the use of one Minirig in mono.

For stereo use, a proprietary cable was produced by Minirig which would split a stereo signal from one stereo 3.5mm jack to 2 3.5mm jacks.

They can also be daisy chained together, giving the possibility of an almost limitless number of Minirigs working together, either all mono, or as 2 banks for stereo sound, using the Minirig splitter cable and links between the following Minirigs.

They do not have a power button- the power is enabled when the jack lead is plugged into either socket. The upper socket is high gain for louder sound, the lower socket is a low gain input.

Battery charging is via a supplied USB lead with a barrel jack which plugs into the Minirig.

Battery level is indicated via a single LED which changes colour through the colour spectrum from green at full charge to red indicating an empty battery.

There was also a subwoofer available, the Minirig sub, which is the same diameter as the smaller full range speakers.

The sub does have a power button to switch it on and off. The splitter cable uses TRRS connections. The four connections are ground, left, right and a power signal. This allows the sub to switch connected minirigs on and off.
