Polk Omni S2 Repair

The Omni S2 is a wireless speaker created by Polk and released in May 2015. Polk is a California based company that specializes in home and automobile speakers. The Omni S2 comes with black and white swappable grilles. It has rubber strips that run lengthwise on one side with a rubber grip on one smaller side that allows it to sit horizontally or stand up to fit in small spaces, like bathroom countertops. The sound itself comes from two 2" (50mm) full-range drivers powered by a two-channel amplifier as well as two passive radiators.

The speaker also has DTS Play-Fi, a feature that allows the speaker to communicate with other Polk Omni devices and other Play-Fi components and speakers. It also has built-in dual-band Wi-Fi that allows connection to your wireless home network and wireless communication with other Play-Fi devices. It has a USB port for firmware updates and it is multi-zone synchronous playback or multi-stream playback.

Alongside the Omni S2, Polk released the Omni S2R, a battery-charged and weather-resistant version for outdoor use. See the Identification section below for help with telling the difference between the two.

To identify a Polk Omni S2 speaker from other speakers, look for its compact, cylindrical design with a removable grille, and three buttons on the front with a Polk logo on the center button. "Polk Omni S2" will also be printed on the back, where the rest of the buttons and ports are.

To identify an Omni S2 from an Omni S2R, note that the color of the buttons will be silver-white on an Omni S2 and black on an S2R. The printed text on the back will be different as well: it will say "Polk Omni S2 Portable" on an Omni S2R.
