If the shutter button of the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS sticks, it could be due to debris or residue inside the camera. This guide will demonstrate how to access the shutter button in order to clean out any unwanted substances.

Before starting, make sure to turn off the camera and remove the battery.

Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver, remove the five outermost screws from the camera.

Remove the front panel of the camera case to expose the top left ribbon cable. Pull the ribbon cable gently to disconnect it from the camera.

Using a Phillips #00 screwdriver remove the single screw on the far left-hand side towards the bottom of the camera.

Carefully pull the case apart to separate the 2 pieces.
The case will detach from the camera in two pieces.

Remove the two screws on the metal plate of the camera case. This will give you access to the spring inside the metal plate for further cleaning.
Clean the inside of the camera with a cloth to remove dust and excess grime. This should unstick the shutter button and allow for full function.
