Cruiser Bike Rear Wheel Replacement

Introduction

This guide will walk you through the process of replacing the rear wheel of your cruiser bike. You will need to replace your wheel if it is flat or continues going flat. This process can be tricky, considering the parts associated with the rear wheel. Make sure you have the correct tools for the job and follow the directions strictly. The most strenuous part of this repair is flipping the bike.

Flip your bike so the seat and handlebars are on the ground.
This will make it easier to access tire.

Step 2

Slip the chain onto the crank and rear cog. Then insert wheel into rear drop-outs.
Make sure that the chain is on the correct side of the wheel.
Handle the chain carefully to ensure a successful tire replacement.

Tighten brake strap using screwdriver and 10 mm socket wrench.
Hold the nut on the inside (near the spokes) with wrench as you tighten the screw with the screwdriver.
You will know the socket wrench is has finished tightening when you feel resistance.

Center the wheel and pull back to tighten the chain.
If the bike wheel is unusable use tire levers to remove tire.

With the wheel pulled back, tighten the two axle nuts using the 15 mm socket wrench.
Tighten the non-drive side (side without the chain) first.
The wheel will angle as you tighten. Keep it centered with your hand as you finish tightening both axle nuts.
Use a tire pump to make sure the tire is full of air and ready to ride.
