To get started with disassembling your MSI GF63, you need to flip that baby upside down and remove the 12 Philips Head screws. Note that if you just bought the laptop one of the screw might be covered by a sticker that says "Factory Seal", you may remove this sticker it will not void your warranty.

Now you will see something like this then that means your right on track which leads me to believe that you carefully removed the plastic clips when removing the bottom cover

This laptop might not be the most aesthetically pleasing but it’s functional which is really important in this case because that means it’s basically modular you can upgrade the RAM and storage: Upgrading the NVMe or adding a additional HDD or SSD. Note that MSI GF63 has RAM which can be upgraded up to 64GB.

So when it comes to storage the MSI features a M.2 NVMe drive that is pre-partitioned with MSI’s recovery tools and Windows installation. These might seem useless considering they take up about 15~20GB but this is basically a modified version of Windows that is used when you reset your laptop in Windows settings.

And a SATA port for a additional 2.5” drive (This should be self explanatory it’s just for more storage).

If you bought this laptop brand new you might have noticed that weird looking thingy with some screws alongside the user manual, well that ‘thingy’ is actually a mounting brackets for a 2.5” drive. This is what we will use to Install a additional drive and remember as long as nothing breaks your laptop should still be covered under warranty.

This part of the disassembly is the part that you really don’t want to tamper with unless you know what you are doing! This part will definitely void your warranty because a lot can go wrong with this part underneath the copper cooling pipes is your CPU and your dedicated GPU, these are basically the brains of your laptop.

They control the computational stuff that makes the laptop work as it should and are in charge of your graphics so these need to be cooled down

The least you can do here is redo the thermal paste and blow out the fans that’s it!! Note these only apply if you know what you are doing.

It is common for disassembly guides to end with "To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order." However, it's usually easier to take something apart than put it back together.
To snap the bottom cover back into place, you must start by aligning it with the audio jacks. Otherwise it won't fit into place.
If you are doing an upgrade, it is a good idea to disconnect the battery. This requires a lot of awkward wiggling of the connector. Before putting the bottom cover into place, do not forget to plug the battery back in.
