Introduction
If your Gateway 600YG2 laptop has started to drain its battery rapidly or won’t hold a charge, it’s likely time to replace the battery.
The battery is essential for powering your laptop, and over time, it will naturally lose its ability to hold a charge after going through multiple charge cycles. If you notice your laptop’s battery is draining faster than usual or the percentage drops unexpectedly, it may be time for a replacement.
A swollen or punctured battery can be dangerous and may cause a fire hazard. If your battery appears swollen, handle it carefully and take appropriate precautions.
Before beginning, make sure your laptop is powered off and disconnected from any external power source. Follow the steps in this guide to safely remove the old battery and install a new one.

Flip the laptop over.

Slide the battery release tab to the right to open the battery cover.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
