HP Mini 311 RAM Replacement
Introduction
Go to step 1If you want to increase your computers memory or are having trouble with speed, the RAM is simple to replace in HP Mini 311.
What you need

Lay the laptop on a flat surface, bottom side up and slide the two battery release latches toward the outside of the case.

With the device still in a bottom side up position, proceed to unscrew the two 4.8mm Phillips 00 screws from the memory shield.

Firmly press on the metal pins located on both sides of the RAM.

Simply grab and remove the RAM from the device.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

4 GB modules are not supported it seems.
You may see posts in the HP Support Forum saying that the Mini 311 will accept a 4 GB module. Possibly this is true for the Pavilion DM, but not the Mini 311.
The service manual says only 2GB or 1 GB are supported.
Other people posted that they tried a 4GB module and it did not work.
FYI, The link to buy the suggested part is wrong and not compatible.
