Nintendo Super Famicom SHVC-001 Sound Card Replacement

Introduction

Is the audio of your Super Famicon hard to hear or not audible completely? If so, you may have distorted audio from dried capacitors. With this guide, we will give you steps to replace the sound chip inside of the device to reconcile your audio problems. You will need a Gamebit screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver. Happy Fixing!

What you need

  1. Nintendo Super Famicom SHVC-001 Sound Card Replacement, Upper Case: step 1, image 1 of 1

    • Remove the six 13.5 mm screws on the lower case with a 4.5 mm Gamebit screwdriver.

    • Flip the Famicom over and set it down.

    • Lift off the upper case.

    • The sound card is located in the top right corner of the device.

    • Remove the two 15.6 mm Phillips screws that secure the sound card.

    • Lift the sound card up and out of the chassis.
