Introduction
This tutorial helps you to reattach the hands of a wristwatch that have fallen off. This repair is performed on a Philip Persio Quartz wristwatch. Except for minor differences the procedure is identical for most simple, battery-powered wristwatches. That is why these instructions can be transferred to many other wristwatches.
What you need
-
-
Place the watch on the mounting pad with the dial facing down.
-
Remove the bracelet by using the spring bar tool. Push the flat side between the bracelet and the bar holder of the watch and slightly squeeze the pin inside the bracelet.
-
Once you have lifted the pin out of the bearing hole on one side, you can remove the bracelet including the pin.
-
Repeat this procedure with the other side of the bracelet.
-
-
-
Look on the housing cover for the small opening notch.
-
Press the Jimmy tool or another case opener into this notch and carefully pry the lid open.
-
Remove the housing lid.
-
-
-
Turn the marked screw with the screwdriver about two turns counterclockwise.
-
Now you should be able to pull the crown and the stem out of the movement. If this is not yet possible, you can unscrew the described screw a little further.
-
Now you can remove the movement including the attached dial from the case with the help of tweezers.
-
-
-
-
Place the movement on the mounting pad with the dial facing up.
-
Carefully insert the adjusting stem into the movement from the right. If the shaft is seated correctly, the hour hand can be adjusted.
-
Turn the crown and align the hour hand exactly to a full hour (here 6 o'clock).
-
Then pull the adjusting stem out of the movement again.
-
-
-
Now place the minute hand with the hole on the dedicated stem and align it to 12 o'clock (full hour).
-
Find a suitable punch of the watch hand setting tool and place it centrally on the hands hole.
-
Gently press the hand onto the stem.
-
-
-
Now also place the second hand with the hole on the dedicated stem. The second hand does not have to be aligned to a specific position.
-
Again, find a suitable punch of the watch hand setting tool and place it centered on the hands hole.
-
Gently press the hand onto the stem.
-
-
-
Before you reassemble the watch, you should clean the dial and the inside of the case from dust and lint. To do this, simply pick up the individual particles with the cleaning compound.
-
Do the steps in reverse to reassemble your watch.
