  • And with that, we're done with the first level of user repairs. The Fairphone is designed to be easily separated into modular components, but what if you want to fix an individual module?

  • The modules are held together with Torx T5 screws—presumably to deter the casual user from delving too deep—but are still easy to open up.

  • We start with the top module: the front-facing camera pops right off thanks to a simple flex cable connector.

  • Spring contacts power the earpiece speaker, making for easy replacement of that as well.

  • The headphone jack, the final component, is soldered to the board. Fortunately, nothing major remains, so a replacement board should be pretty cheap.

Ainsi nous en avons fini avec le premier niveau de réparation. Le Fairphone a été conçu pour pouvoir être facilement démonté en composants modulaires. Mais que se passe-t-il si l'on veut réparer un module individuel ?

Les modules sont attachés ensemble à l'aide de vis Torx T5 (probablement pour dissuader l'utilisateur occasionnel d'aller explorer trop loin), mais ils sont tout de même faciles à ouvrir.

Commençons avec le module du haut : la caméra avant se retire grâce à un câble connecteur flexible.

Des contacts métalliques à ressort alimentent l'écouteur et facilitent son remplacement.

La sortie jack, le composant final, est soudée sur la carte. Heureusement, il n'y a plus de composants importants sur la carte, ce qui rend son remplacement bon marché.
