In 2016, iFixit assembled a team of specialists to build the industry's first technical certification for smartphone repair. Our specialists spent a year interviewing countless technicians and repair business owners to develop a standard for our industry—and to build a comprehensive exam where you can prove your repair expertise and business acumen. We’ve had thousands of technicians get certified, further validating independent repair as a quality option for consumers.
In order to keep the certification exam as relevant as possible, the test needs to be updated. We’ve envisioned updates to the certification being pushed out by a board representatives of the industry but we’ve been unable to assemble the right group to do that. Because of that, iFixit is no longer offering new MasterTech certifications at this time.
All currently certified MasterTechs are still valid up to the two year mark since certification.
