Background
Released in October of 2022, the Surface Pro 9 line merged the Surface Pro and Surface Pro X brands by offering models with Intel or ARM processors. The Surface Pro 9 family has two variants: the Surface Pro 9 (this device), which boasts Intel processors, and the Surface Pro 9 with 5G, featuring the Microsoft SQ 3 processor. Each variant is configurable with different storage and memory options.
Identification
The Surface Pro devices all look very similar, having a sleek design with a kickstand and detachable keyboard. You can identify your Surface Pro model by the 4-digit number printed under the kickstand on the bottom edge of the back cover:
The Surface Pro 9 has model number 2038.
Refer to Microsoft’s official guide for alternative ways to identify your Surface device.
