I have same problem here (iMac 27 late 2009 Core i7 2.8 GHz), CPU fan at full speed Long story short, SATA HDD connector at motherboard was broken, I managed to fix it but once it was assembled again, noticed fan problem I’ve checked resistor R5797 is still in place and it meassures 47k (46.73 aprox) My first thought was about skin sensor, as pins went out of plastic when removed, but iStats says all temperature sensors are fine. So… what would be the problem? I was really wishing it was a resistor problem, at least there would be something to start up, but now I’m clueless
I have the same symptom in this model of iMac. Just # 1 led on when computer is plugged, power button does nothing despite it shorts both power on pins properly. Also tried removing RAM, but still fan does not spins nor beeps anyway Reset SMC did not work either
Old post, but there I go anyway… I had two of these iMac model in my hands a few months ago, and both had same problem. Before finding this thread, I did everything you already said , and tested components from one to the other with no success. I’m afraid there is an unknow problem with this motherboards. An interesting fact is that the iMac that failed on this issue have been those with AMD graphics. The models with NVIDIA integrated graphic have not given any problem of that kind I’ll stay over here if there’s any update
