I am a Phone and Tablet Repair Specialist who loves the challenge of frame damaged devices. Many Techs receive a bad rap due to a few but, when you understand the importance of consistency, it leaves little room for error. I have a responsibility to my customers to set realistic expectations and always make recommendations in their best interest.

Have you disconnected the battery and tried a soft reset after securing the screen? I sometime have to soft reset after screen replacements (home button and power button , until you see the Apple logo).
Read moreWhen it come to liquid damage, it’s always best not to turn the phone on until it been opened and the boards been treated. If it sat in water for 4 hours you probably have some corrosion already building up on your board, which will definitely cause various components to stop working. I’d back up anything important and have the phone looked at professionally. J3’s are tough normally retailing for around $200 it may be more cost effective to replace the phone as water damage repairs can sometimes be very expensive. Best of luck!
Read moreHi Harvey, if you have normal volume when the phone is on speaker most likely your earpiece has debris in it. Unfortunately, the way phones are designated, the mesh that covers your earpiece holds on to everything that is wiped over it and has no where to go but inside of the phone. Best recommend is a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip along with a gentle scrub with an old toothbrush. Make sure you turn your phone off and it help to hold the phone with the earpiece down towards a table, gravity will pull some of the debris out while cleaning with the brush. Muted volume is very rarely a faulty earpiece but normally clogged mesh. Hope this helps!
Read moreDefinitely not fun, experienced the same a couple weeks ago. There is software you can install which can possibly help with stuck devices ( have to pay for it ) or you can download 10.3.3, I always download directly from Apple or other trusted sources. Once downloaded you have to manually install the older iOS , if you’re using a Mac : Click restore while simultaneously hitting option . It will then ask you for the path of the file you’d like to install. I usually just save the file to my desktop to make it easier to locate. After iOS 10 is reinstalled you will not be able to restore from an iOS 11 backup so most likely you will loose everything if you don’t have an iOS 10 backup. Public beta is now available and I’ve installed it on a secondary device (which Apple recommended initially) so far so good, definitely less glitchy, still might wait a bit longer before installing it back on my primary device. Best of luck!
Read more@dianelk65 possible to post pictures? Should have two ribbon connections on the side. The 3rd is your. Home button assembly, which is usually transferred from the damaged screen. However, I’ve seen screens come both ways, With and without a home button assembly. iPad home bottons can be tricky. Unlike iPhones they aren’t reinforced with plates with screws and a gasket with adhesive. If not removed properly and reinstalled without the adhesive and gasket, the button will eventually be pushed inside of the iPad. If you have any reservation about reassembling the button it’s best to buy a digitizer with home button assembly/flex.
Read moreSeems like it may be an issue with the screen if you've gotten the same results with different phones / screens. Assuming no frame damage at all (small inconsistencies on the frame can definitely cause a fit issue). I've had OEM screens fit strangely because of a very small piece of the water resistant adhesive used on the 7. Also, Sounds like something could be off with the frame on this one though .
Read moreHi Mary, sounds like a software issue. I'd highly recommend a Hard Reset after backing up things you don't want to lose. Good luck!
Read more@shirleyb , sorry to hear about your phone. The phone most likely powers on and will function normally but when the screen is damaged it will not display anything.
Read moreAs long as the phone is the same it is not an issue to swap boards.
Read moreAt this stage iOS 11 is extremely unstable. Apple has recommended installing the Beta on an alternative device. Currently running 11 on my iPhone 7 and it is extremely unstable, almost to the point that I want to uninstall. My apps crash everyday, messages freezes almost every time I use it. Unfortunately, that's the downside of an early beta. Keep in mind that iOS 11 is being developed for the newest iPhone with the latest processor, granted we're running versions optimized for our devices. Certainly would not hurt to test your battery especially if you're still having issues after the official release.
