The Microphone button comes off easy enough if pried off from the side - the cowl slides off a lot easier after Microphone button is removed as there is only the Bluetooth & Power button to deal with.

ach.. the “handful of screws” are security torx screws that are deeper than I can reach with my small stubbies.. I need the TR9 Torx Security Screwdriver above I guess..
