Read moreI had my (late 2011) MBP fixed in late 2016, the replacement part lasted 9 months and it's dead again. Apple wants $500 for another repair. Does anybody buy these things for parts? Nice hi-res matte screen, nothing else wrong with it according to the Genius who did the tests. Just the usual video board failure they never were able to completely fix.

Read moreYou almost certainly left the little black wire disconnected, the one you remove before lifting the CD frame off the motherboard. Possibly you knocked the bigger wire to the actual CPU temperature sensor off while you had the memory exposed.
