This teardown helped me fix an annoying problem with my D610 where the video record button was unresponsive. The money shot was the photo and comments in step 12 about the hidden screws under the diopter dial and rubber grip! I followed your steps down to the top cover at step 18 including removing the top LCD and both mode dials to get to the shutter, matrix, and critically the video record buttons. Nothing looked out of place or corroded, so I put everything back and made sure to re-seat all the flex cable connectors in the vicinity. After ending up with extra screws no less than 6 times, the camera is fully back together and the video record button works again.
