This is far and away THE WORST iFixit repair guide I’ve used.
I've used iFixit guides several times before so my expectations have been set high and all of them have been excellent. So what it wrong with this repair guide?
Once you have disassembled the screen from the body of the phone it is still connected by a short ribbon connector with no information about how to detach it. You are left fighting a battle to ensure that you do not damage the connector while you follow the other steps.
The next problem is removing the battery adhesive. If the battery has not been in the phone for five years like mine has, no doubt you can remove the adhesive as described in the video. The first strip on mine came away with just a little cajoling. The second one had lost its elasticity and could not be removed by the method stated. The battery itself began to deform as I used a spludger to slowly separate it from the body. There was a real risk that the battery would ignite.
