Hello there! My name is Mat. Here’s a little bit about me!
Academics
I am a student at the University of Rhode Island majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Business. I chose this degree because I have been intrigued by computers and technology my whole life and wanted to gain more academic knowledge about them.
My goal to is form a career around computers and software, but I do not have my mind set on any specific field just yet.
The programming languages I have learned to code in so far include JavaScript, HTML, Python, and C++.
I am also a member of Ram Hacks, my university’s computer science interest group focused around learning and sharing information about programming, software, and hardware among many other topics.
Experience
In terms of repairs, I have fixed the touchpad of a DualShock 4 (otherwise known as a PlayStation 4 controller), by opening it up and securing the connection of a ribbon cable.
In terms of other experiences, I recently built my first PC, a learning process that got me more adequate with the hardware assembly and software setup of a computer.
I would like to learn more about repairing tech, especially ones related to video games and computers, to get a better understanding of their inner workings and be better equip to fix things rather than needing to replace them entirely.
Hobbies and Fun Facts
In my spare time, I enjoy playing video games, reading books, and building LEGO sets. I have most of my LEGO sets displayed on shelves throughout my room, alongside my collection of other figurines, primarily Transformers! Just about any work of fiction involving robots fascinates me.
I also love animals and have three wonderful cats!
