The app only supports a handful of speakers. The Charge Essential is not supported. The On/Off sound is so annoying that my wife forbids me to use the loudspeaker if she is around. So, for this model, the only way to get rid of these blasting chimes is to not buy it in the first place… JBL confirms that this, indeed, is the only solution.
