I had the same problem with my Dyson DC16 handheld. Forget about cleaning, this does not solve the issue Here's the problem (see photos). When you install the filter there's a tiny magnet that clings onto a hidden switch in a square plastic knob. This hidden switch is not switched on after a while because the magnet is too weak. Try it: Without the filter, the Dyson won't work UNLESS you apply a separate stronger magnet to the square knob. The solution is to either insert a small magnet to the knob or opening the whole %#*@ thing (unscrew the housing) and permanently turn the switch on by inserting something behind it (a small pie
