Hello, everyone. My name is Meg Wiles. I'm currently studying for my Bachelor's degree at the University of Memphis. I'm an English major with a concentration in literature and a minor in American Sign Language.

I started my degree hoping to build a career in publishing as a content editor. I love to read and I think it would be amazing to help authors craft their stories and ensure that they only put out work once it's the best it can be. However, I'm also interested in entering the world of literary scholarship.

My most valued work experience so far has been an internship I did in 2020 with Cypress Magazine. I was a writing intern for two months over the summer. Along with two other interns, I researched and wrote articles for our own section of the magazine called Weekend Wanderings. I went on interviews, helped with layout, wrote blog posts, and more. I had written for my high school newspaper, but my experience with Cypress made me realize just how much I love to write nonfiction. Whether it's an article or an essay, I love the research and thought that nonfiction requires.

My minor in American Sign Language is another passion of mine. I first became bewitched by ASL when I was around 8 years old. I saw someone using ASL on a TV show and I thought it was so beautiful. I taught myself to sign on-and-off for the next ten years until I took my first real ASL class in college. I am now conversationally fluent and I hope to expand my knowledge for the rest of my life.

I'm currently a member of the University of Memphis chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, a national English honors society. I also plan to graduate with the distinction of honors with thesis in May 2024.

Meet my dog, Jules. I have three dogs but she's the oldest and biggest of the bunch.

I want to use iFixit as a practical application of my editing and writing skills. I want to learn the ins and outs of real-world editing so that I can get a better understanding of this field.
