That was insanely hard. But it worked! Front camera, proximity sensor, light sensor and speaker all work! So hard. If it didn’t work I wasn’t even going to bother trying to remove it and start again. It was really hard to tell how to put the replacement part in, because it doesn’t come folded up like the final product, so it’s hard to tell where the folds will occur. Phew. What a relief. The original damage on mine was the cable snapped in half when I was trying to do a screen replacement. The screen replacement worked but that one cable broke clean in half from bending the display back and forth. I call that a hard (not moderate) repair because it’s SO hard to get all 4 things lined up perfectly (camera, two sensors and the speaker which just sits there).

wow that was hard to get in place. clean the edges well and use isopropyl alcohol. also practice a lot before removing the cover protection.

Success. I got one adhesive strip to come out in one piece. The 2nd one snapped in half. I had to do the pry-of-shame, but once I could see the adhesive underneath the battery, I was able to grab it with the angled tweezers, and pull the rest of it out. Wow it’s a lot easier to remove the battery if you get both adhesive strips out in one piece each! I left the screen attached during the battery replacement, so I only removed the batter connector cover. Helps to have a 2nd person hold the screen so you don’t damage the connectors.

My repair worked fine. I pressed the adhesive strip down with my fingers to make sure it stuck to the battery, and was able to peel the pink strip away. The adhesive wanted to come off the battery in places but I kept steady pressure on removing the pink strip at a 45 degree angle. The adhesive stayed on the battery. I didn’t remove the screen (just the 2 Penelopes), and the 2 Phillips screws for the battery connector cover. So I completed the repair successfully.

Wow, that was tricky. I can't believe how small the 1.2mm screws are. I almost inhaled one. Read the directions twice before starting. Read the comments too as they will show you areas you may mess up. Prying off the battery is really hard. Prying off the glass is hard too. I'd get one of those glass removing clamps the iSclack. Getting the screws back in is hard because the magnetic screwdriver pulls them back up after you carefully align them. I'm not sure I'd go through that again.
